Save Your Skin Foundation

 Video Campaign,
Bilingual Content

Save Your Skin Foundation (SYSF) is a Canadian nonprofit dedicated to supporting patients facing melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, and ocular melanoma. When they reached out, they were getting ready to launch a nationwide campaign built around a resource that would help patients navigate one of the hardest parts of the cancer journey:
that first, overwhelming appointment.

They were developing a Decision-Making Guide – a tool patients could bring with them to help clarify questions, concerns, and treatment options during early visits. The guide would be paired with a video campaign designed to spark those conversations and amplify the patient’s voice – in hospitals, in doctors' offices, and online.

My role? To shape and edit a video that would serve as the campaign’s anchor – something warm, polished, and full of intention.

The

Ask

The SYSF team came with a clear vision and a strong foundation.
They wanted a 10–15 minute video interview between a patient (Brianna)
and
Dr. Rao. The video needed to:

  • Highlight the importance of communication and informed decision-making in the cancer journey

  • Showcase back-and-forth dialogue between doctor and patient

  • Incorporate SYSF’s branding (colour, font, icons)

  • Add in motion graphics like lower thirds and title slides

  • Include B-roll and music to create warmth and polish

  • Be accessible and editable for future cuts, including social media versions

The
Process

I believe the best work comes from a true partnership.
The collaboration with the SYSF team began with a clear vision and a structured plan, allowing us to move forward with confidence and intention from day one.

SYSF provided everything needed to start, from raw interview footage and brand files to timestamp recommendations and Canva templates.

The SYSF team, led by Managing Director Jasmine MacGowan, was incredibly organized, making our communication seamless as we worked in-sync via email and text, iterating together through multiple proof rounds.

The first draft was a longer cut with light music and transitions, designed to feel sincere and thoughtful. We then refined the edit based on SYSF’s detailed feedback, which helped us tighten the interview, replace B-roll, adjust music levels, and fine-tune all the brand elements to ensure every detail was aligned. Each round brought us closer to a final product that was authentic, helpful, and perfectly aligned with the campaign’s purpose.

Tools & Techniques

Adobe Premiere Pro:
video editing, audio balancing, and timeline management

Adobe After Effects
for motion graphics, animations, and title cards

Canva for brand asset integration, icons, and font matching

Music & Sound FX for licensed light instrumental music for emotional tone

Stock B-roll sourcing to reflect clinical and emotional moments

The Results

The final cut hit the mark – clean, compassionate, and completely on-brand. It featured thoughtful dialogue between Brianna and Dr. Rao, layered with warm visuals, soft ambient music, and gentle motion graphics that brought the branding to life without overwhelming the message.

The campaign launched with kits and materials distributed to hospitals and shared by SYSF’s pharmaceutical partners – helping bridge the gap between diagnosis and support for patients across Canada.

More than just a video, this was a collaboration built on trust, clarity, and shared purpose – and I was honoured to help shape a piece of the work SYSF is doing to change the patient experience for the better.
